The AMA now agrees that everyone should regularly supplement their diet with vitamins and minerals. Multivitamin/multimineral supplement: Due to the demineralization of soils and processing of foods that strips our diet of many essential vitamins and minerals, a multivitamin and multimineral supplement is an important aid to wellness, for prevention of diseases like cancer and heart disease and for longevity.

Omega 3 and omega 6 essential fatty acids: Our ancestors have generally lived around lakes, streams, rivers and oceans and we might not have survived as a species were it not for a diet that was high in fish. Raw seeds and nuts were also in abundance. These foods contain essential fatty acids and probably because of their prevalence, we have lost the ability to make these oils from other foods in our diet. Hence they are essential. If they are not in our diet, our health is at great risk.

Enzymes: Many fruits and vegetables are quietly being genetically engineered to remove the natural enzymes so that they will not ripen as quickly, thus extending their grocery shelf life. Humans physiology needs enzymes for proper digestion and these should be supplemented regularly. Probiotics: One of the reasons that breast fed babies are healthier is due to the intestina l inoculation of friendly (probiotic) flora from breast milk. Our good flora should last a lifetime and protect our intestinal lining from unfriendly, disease-causing flora. Due to toxin exposures from mercury fillings, antibiotics (by prescription or in food), food preservatives, fluorine and chlorine-laced drinking water, all intended to kill potentially harmful flora, the friendly, protective intestinal flora can also be destroyed. Probiotics should be supplemented regularly to prevent intestinal problems.
